WEEK 6 | BLESSING 5: INHERITANCE

Ephesians 1:11-12

  • “In him we have obtained an INHERITANCE, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.”

What does it mean to have an inheritance?

  • When I think of inheritance I think of two things, death and a free gift. Usually inheritance is mentioned after the death of a loved one. Inheritance is the final gift of the deceased to their friends, family, and neighbors. It is extraordinary how our culture’s views of inheritance mirror that of the blessing we receive in Jesus. Jesus died and rose again so that we can inherit freedom for our sin, shame, and death. We not only inherit eternal life, but we also inherit adoption into the family of God. We are called heirs with Jesus. Meaning that we are not only Jesus’ brothers and sisters, but we are also children of God. This is an amazing free gift that we are able to receive through Jesus. We are truly blessed by Jesus in the inheritance we receive through him.
