WEEK 5 | BLESSING 4: KNOWN

Ephesians 1:8-10

  • “Which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making KNOWN to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.”

What does it mean to know and be known?

  • A psychologist once said that, “Mankind's greatest fear is to be truly known.” Yet it has also been said that the most freeing thing we can truly experience is to be fully known. In these verses we learn that God has made Himself known to us. Not only does this mean that we can communicate with Him, but it also means that He communicates back with us. God not only shares knowledge with us, but He also knows us completely. It is a freeing experience to share, express, and be completely open with God. You do not need to hide anything from God. God is gracious, merciful, and forgiving. He longs to make Himself known and He longs to know who you really are.

REFLECT AND QUESTIONS

  • Look at this verse from Psalms - “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:16)

    • How crazy is it to think that God knew us even before we were born?

    • We are blessed to be known by God and to know God; what about this blessing stands out to you?

    • If you truly believed you were known by God, how would it change how you live?
