WEEK 3 | BLESSING 2: ADOPTED & ACCEPTED

Ephesians 1:5-6

  • “In love He predestined (ACCEPTED) us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will”

What does it mean to be accepted?

  • We live in a culture that seeks to judge our heart by our actions. God seeks to see your heart; He sees everyone as His child. No matter how messed up a person’s heart or actions become, God still loves them. God accepts us as we are. He sees us in our brokenness and He still loves us. True acceptance looks at someone and says, “I love you for who you are.” We are children of God and God accepts us as we are. He wants a relationship with the real you, not who you pretend to be. Allow the fact that God accepts you to wash over you today. The beautiful thing about God is He accepts us wherever we are and then He molds us into who we were always meant to be. We will find out more about this in the following weeks. For now, rest knowing that we serve a God who meets us where we are and He accepts us as His children.

REFLECT | QUESTIONS

  • Meditate on these words from Romans 5:8 - “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

    • How does it make you feel to know that even in our brokenness God loves us?

    • What thoughts come to mind when you hear God accepts you as you are?

    • If you truly believed you were adopted and accepted by God, how would it change how you live?
