It is impossible to exaggerate the importance of Jesus. Hebrews 1 describes Jesus as the one who created the world, the one through whom God speaks, the "heir of all things," the "radiance of the glory of God," "the exact imprint of God's nature"—it even says that Jesus "upholds the universe by the word of his power." But in addition to these powerful descriptions of who Jesus is, Hebrews also explains that Jesus became a human being, paid for our sins, and allows us to be restored to God.
We should spend our entire lives getting to know Jesus and following Him more closely, but it is helpful to have a starting point. If you want to know more about who Jesus is, we encourage you to watch the short video below. If you have questions (who doesn't?), one of our pastors would love to talk to you.

In the Bible, when people were ready to follow Jesus, one of their first steps was to be baptized. Baptism is a physical enactment of what happened when Jesus died on our behalf, and of what happens in our hearts as we begin to follow Jesus. In baptism, we are lowered into the water, just as Jesus died and was placed in the tomb. Then we are raised out of the water, just as Jesus conquered death and rose again to life. In the same way, Romans 6 explains that through Jesus, we die to the people we used to be, and we are raised to new life—we become "new creations" (2 Cor. 5:17)—through Jesus' work in our hearts.
Baptism is a step of obedience to Jesus that publicly declares our allegiance to Him and our desire to follow Him with the rest of our lives. If you've never been baptized, we challenge you to take this important step. We hold baptism events regularly, so please contact Pastor Mark about being a part of our next baptism.

If you're ready to dive further into your pursuit of Jesus, we encourage you to sign up for our FOLLOW study. With FOLLOW, we connect you with a Creekside member who will lead you through a six-week study on the essential components of life as a follower of Jesus. It is derived from six biblical mandates that God gives His people repeatedly throughout the Bible. These six sessions explore the essence of God’s way for humanity to discover abundant life in a fallen world.
