Why do you serve in youth ministry?

Because kids are the best! I love seeing them learn and understand new things about the Bible and about who God is, and nothing can give them a better hope for the future than that. Not to mention, we have a lot of fun!

What do you like about Creekside?

I like how Creekside just feels like one giant family. It feels like a few hundred people have your back!

    What are your hobbies?

Reading, crafting, cooking, traveling, and of course, tea drinking.

What is your favorite place to eat in this area?

This is tough. I'm forced to give two answers. For fancy occasions, Hawks in Granite Bay takes the plate (literally). For every day kinda eatin' I like Freebirds World Burrito or il pizzaiolo. Oops that was three answers- can you tell I love food!?

Why do you serve in youth ministry?

I think that this time of life is very important for kids to start making their faith their own. It is very easy to grow up in a Christian household and still not know why you believe what you believe. With all of the negative influences surrounding our kids I think it is important that they have a place to come and learn about God and be able to share that with others. Having a son in the Exchange I understand how difficult it can be sometimes to raise godly kids in a world that is so hostile to God and His truth.

What do you like about Creekside?

Where do I start? I love that each and every one of Ryan's sermons has challenged me in some area of my life. He does not preach "feel good"sermons and I like that. I love that my kids love Creekside and that they are serving on Sundays. I love that my husband is getting to know some great Christian men and is also serving (insert wife was nagging for awhile on this one). And lastly I love that I truly feel part of the body of Christ, a big family, the way God intended.

    What are your hobbies?

Well hobbies are difficult to find time for with three boys...but I love sticking my nose in a book, coffee is a must (that is a hobby by the way), baking used to be a hobby until it turned into my business, I love getting my hands dirty in my garden, and I'm pretty excited about all things Crossfit.

What is your favorite place to eat in this area?

I can't pick just one, hmmm, Cheesecake Factory (because who doesn't love a 1,000 calorie piece of cheesecake!) Arigato Sushi, and for those nights when we need everyone in the family to agree, In n Out wins hands down :)

THE EXCHANGE LEADERSHIP

  • JON PRAY

    Exchange leader

Why do I serve in youth ministry?

I serve in ministry because I want to see others experience the peace and joy and hope I've found in Christ. In particular, I choose to work in YOUTH ministry because I feel like this is a very pivotal age where the kids are old enough to have the maturity and the opportunity to understand the gospel, and to decide if and how they're going to let it change the way they live. Also, I like to goof off and be silly, and Jr High is a place I can do that and nobody thinks I'm a weirdo because... everybody's a weirdo in Jr High.

What do you like about Creekside?

The number one thing I like about Creekside church is that it values and honors God's word, and preaches it regularly and boldly to all ages from the preschool to the pulpit. I also love that Creekside continually challenges me to not only know God's truth, but also to act on that truth in a way that will impact a dying world with the gospel. I could go on forever about what I like about Creekside, but the last thing I'll say is that I love how it feels like we're all one big family.

    What are your hobbies?

Is playing with my kids a hobby? Because I love doing that and I feel like that consumes most of my time right now. I also love doing projects around the house. But I guess my favorite real hobby is dirt bike riding. I love dirt bike riding!

What is your favorite place to eat in this area?

Oh man... Lucille's BBQ maybe. Or somewhere I can get French Toast. Also, a big bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios at my kitchen table sounds really good right now too. So many good options... I can't decide.

Why do you serve in youth ministry?

Junior high school students are at an age where they are asking a lot of important questions. It is an honor to have an opportunity to join students in learning more about God, life and relationships. I also have a lot of fun getting to know them and having the chance to speak into their lives.

What do you like about Creekside?

The people at Creekside Church have been friendly and welcoming. My family and I have felt that God is doing something great here. Personally, I have felt that this community is the place we are meant to be.

    What are your hobbies?

I enjoy playing golf, following the San Francisco Giants and reading. I am a computer geek by trade. I work as a web developer.

What is your favorite place to eat in this area?

You cannot go wrong with Red Robin. ;)

  • SCOTT SCHOFIELD

    EXCHANGE LEAD TEACHER

Why do you serve in youth ministry?

I serve in youth ministry because it is the time of life when young people start making decisions about their lives. Their faith begins transitioning from something their parents have to something they must have. I want to be used by God to pour His truth and love into their lives during this time.

What do you like about Creekside?

I like Creekside because of all of the facial hair. For as 3rd Peter says, "You shall know a good church by their beards..."

    What are your hobbies?

Hobbies??? Who has time for hobbies? I enjoy playing LEGO video games with Mrs. Scho (Marvel is still the best one), a solid high five, a good burger, and driving fast (where it's legal to do so). I also love playing soccer. And smiling...smiling's my favorite.

What is your favorite place to eat in this area?

Chef's Table. Hands down. Or Mrs. Scho's table, which is just as good.
